As with all natural wood products, the color of our Brazilian Cherry varies. Brazilian Cherry can have a dramatic color change over time though. In a process known as oxidation, it changes from a tan/salmon color to a deep, rich, reddish-brown color. The color change occurs when exposed to direct sunlight. In indirect sunlight, the Brazilian Cherry will oxidize slowly with most noticeable changes occurring within three months. Water-based finishes such as the ones we use to finish our products tend to slow down the color change. Yes, we can definitely stain the wood prior to applying the finish to obtain a darker hue.
