July's Design Tip
Have you ever seen a species of wood compared to the same species and it is darker or lighter? This is because of "ambering". Ambering is when a species of wood has been exposed to a certain amount of sunlight and has gotten darker.
This process is more common is exotic species of wood such at Brazilian Cherry, Santos Mahogany, and Tigerwood.
You can put this to the test yourself! Place a sample or scrap piece of exotic wood outside in direct sunlight. Tape a piece of paper to half of the wood. Bring the sample in after a day and take the piece of paper off. You will see a noticable difference in color just after one day!
