Red Oak Tongue and Groove Panels for Staircase Landings

Our Red Oak tongue and groove engineered landing panel systems include individual panels that are ¾" thick x 3" wide with lengths that range from 72" to 94" accommodating the majority of stair landings, pie steps, and kite-shaped steps. The pieces are constructed with a 10 ply base and a wear layer of over 4mm of solid Red Oak. The base plywood results in a product with properties that can withstand variances in climate which often takes its toll on a solid wood product, and with a thick wear layer the benefits and look of solid wood remains present. The most important of those benefits being the ability to refinish if desired. The product is offered in both unfinished and prefinished bundles of 13 square feet. Our prefinished bundles receive the same durable aluminum oxide coating as our treads providing a flawless transition from your beautiful treads to your equally beautiful landing making this system the best answer for converting your carpet covered landing to hardwood.

We've improved our unique panel system designed specifically to cover larger intermediate landings, kite-shaped steps, and pie steps. Using a multi-panel system that you assemble on site allows you to cover areas of your staircase that were previously too large to cover with a single stair tread.

In the past, the only way to address a landing was to install a landing tread along the leading edge of the landing and then fill the space behind it with 3/4" solid hardwood flooring, but we've designed a new way to retro-fit a previously carpeted landing with a durable and more stable engineered wood product! Using our engineered panel system with your new retro-fit stair treads guarantees a great match in both color and finish between your landing and the rest of the staircase.

This landing system will require a standard 5 1/4" landing tread (sold separately @ landing tread) that can be installed along the leading edge of the landing and our tongue and groove panels behind it. Each panel is grooved on one long edge and has a matching tongue on the other so the two will interlock with each other as well as the landing tread.

Measuring a System

To determine the proper material to order, you'll need to know the length and width of your landing or pie-shaped step. Multiply those two numbers to calculate your square footage. Our systems are sold in bundles of 14 square feet. As long as the landing or pie step is shorter than 94" (left to right), this will provide the solution to the landing.

You will need to rip the last panel to the exact dimension you need on site.
