The skirtboard (sometimes called a stringer or simply skirt) is a flat board that is installed along the side of a staircase. Skirtboards can be used to hide the edge of exposed risers or installed on the inside wall of a stair. Our unfinished Brazilian Cherry skirtboards are 11 1/2" wide x 3/4" thick. Our skirtboards are edge glued like our stair treads with color and grain matched Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba) hardwood. This edge gluing process helps our Hickory skirtboard resist warping and cupping. We can generally make skirtboards in any width, length, and thickness, if you would like a to explore different dimensions, please contact us.
