Details
Starting steps as their name implies, is the first stair at the bottom of a staircase. This step starts your ascend upstairs and there is typically only one per staircase (unless you have multiple runs). A double turnout starter step is curved on both left and right sides (also called a double-volute). Double turnout starting steps are ordered by the inside throat length.
Note: Starter treads and starter risers are sold separately. Order a double turnout starter riser with this tread - the throat length and the shapes of tread and riser will match each other and will allow a 1-1/4" overhang on the appropriate sides.
See Matching Starting Step Risers.
Our standard double turnout starter steps have a rounded edge along both sides that make a 1/2 circle turn on each end. These type of steps are typically found in staircases visible on three sides.
The measurement of the notch or cutout on this type of tread is called the "Throat Length". We can make a double turnout starter with an inside throat length from 36" to 96"+ long. Tolerance / maximum resolution for inside throat length is -+1/2".
Note: All products with a double return are considered to be a custom-made or made-to-order product and are not returnable, nor can an order be cancelled once placed. See our Order Policies for more details.
