Red Oak Butterscotch Landing Tread 5-1/4 in wide x 36 in long - shipped pre-stained in Butterscotch and then finished with our UV Cured Diamond Coat II - ready to be cut-to-size and installed as soon as you receive it.
Landing Tread (also called "stairnose" or just "nosing") is installed at the very top of a staircase as the final "step". Landing tread is 3/4" thick and is grooved along the back edge to accept a standard 3/4" flooring tongue. Landing tread is also used in combination with our panel system to provide the bullnosed leading edge of landings and pie steps. Most staircase remodels will need at least one landing tread unless it is to be supplied from the flooring provider.

Product Questions and Answers
  1. Q:Where do you use this?
A:Landing Tread is used as the final step in a staircase (as you're walking upstairs) or along the edge of an intermediate landing. It is grooved along the back to accept 3/4" hardwood flooring if you're installing flooring on your second level. If you are going to leave carpet installed upstairs, you can tuck the carpet to the edge of the landing tread as well.
  2. Q:We have a landing in between 2 sets of stairs, do you sell matching 3/4" planks for that? Thanks.
A:You'll definitely need this landing tread to install along the edge of your landing and then you can use standard 3/4" hardwood flooring to fill the remaining space in the landing. Unfortunately, we don't sell the 3/4" flooring that installs behind this landing tread. This particular color (Butterscotch) is designed to match with Bruce Hardwood flooring which is readily available at large home improvement stores or local flooring dealers.
  3. Q:I am using a 5 1/2" nosing on my landing. Can I complete the landing with oak 1x10? The landing in 3'-0 x 3'0. Thanks in advance phil
A:On landings, we typically recommend finishing the space with 3/4" hardwood flooring. The landing treads are pre-grooved to accept 3/4" solid wood flooring and this butterscotch landing tread is designed to coordinate with the Bruce line of hardwood flooring in the butterscotch color.
  4. Q:Are these stair treads slippery ? I don't want to add carpet. Thanks
A:No they are not glass smooth. We have a lot of customers who were concerned about their treads being slippery. Once installed our customers were very pleased with how "non-slippery" they are. They are the equivalent to hardwood floors.
  5. Q:In a landing area, how do you connect the hardwood to the landing tread? By nail or glue? I am thinking that the end of the landing tread should be tongue so that it can be connected by nail. Do have landing tread that has a tongue end? That's how I am going to connect my hardwood on the 2nd floor. Or any idea?
A:Installing a landing tread is just like installing a tread. You will need to use a hardwood adhesive, and using nails as well is preferable. Since there is a groove in the back of the landing tread, you will want to put a nail on the far left, and far right side of the landing tread. When connecting the hardwood flooring on the 2nd floor, you will need to put a tongue piece first, with the tongue facing the groove on the landing tread. 6. Q:I received the samples of the different types of finishes used on the prefinished treads however I want to finish a railing and hand rail in the same color stain do you have the butterscotch stain for sale? since I cannot find it anywhere,
A:We do not have stain available on the website, but you can order the 1/2 quart of stain for $15.61. A sales representative will be happy to assist you, you can contact us at our toll free number!
