The cutout is 10 1/4" wide - the 1" thick bullnose section is 1 1/4" wide for a total width of 11 1/2" from tip to tip

The best option for landings is to install hardwood flooring for the majority of the landing surface and install a landing tread (also called a bullnose or stairnose) where the landing requires a bullnose. If 3/4" wood flooring is not available or not an option, we can make large prefinished panels up to 23" deep and 96" wide. Quite often, a landing will require two or more panels installed together to cover the entire surface.

Matching treads to your existing floor is not difficult at all. Depending on the flooring you are trying to match, there are a couple options. We warrant the finish to be free of manufacturing defects but there's not a finish warranty per se. The average expectancy of our finish should last anywhere from 20 - 50 years under normal residential use. The actual life will vary depending on how you maintain it - the UV coating we apply contains Aluminum Oxide and is far more durable than any finish that can be applied in the field but dirt, rocks, and other debris will significantly shorten any finish's life expectancy. Should you ever need to refinish the treads in the future, these solid oak treads can be sanded and recoated so long as you use a finish that is compatible with UV coatings.
